Aleppo Soaps
The first
written document about the substances with the characteristics of soap, in
Mesopotamia BC. III. are clay tablets dating back a thousand years. In these
tablets, a substance obtained by mixing with potassium and oil is mentioned. In
some excavations of the former Ebla kingdom, some alkaline salts, olives and
oils have been used in physical cleaning of the body during the 2800 BC. It is
also mentioned that the holy book in the Qur'an is healing often and also the
olive oil.
Famous
women, such as Cleopatra and Queen Zenobia, are told in legends that they used
laurel soap to protect their healthy and shiny hair to be fresh and youthful.
